    • Out of touch

Have you ever tried dividing your friends into TV news watchers and TV news avoiders. I think TV news watchers are more likely to be the people who buy into the status quo. Maybe you start watching it when you have children. You wouldn't want to be the last person to know there was a paedophile living on your street, now would you? Perhaps you start watching when your fear reaches a sufficient level. Perhaps I'm just trying to justify how out of touch I am.

    • The Cranberries

Have you discovered dried cranberries yet? They're like very sophisticated raisins.

    • FeedDemon 1.0B2

Like everything Nick Bradbury produces, FeedDemon is fast becoming one of my favourite pieces of software. If you read a lot of blogs that supply RSS, try it!

    • Snow

Yesterday I walked up the Bridle Path, turned off onto the Kahukura Track, and climbed up to Castle Rock. It was nice to be walking in snow. Across the plains, everything was sparkling white from the Southern Alps to the foothills to the higher edge of the Canterbury Plains. There were no climbers on Castle Rock which seemed odd. But the Summit Road was still closed and I guess they didn't want to walk up. I walked back along the road which has some good lahar deposits in the road cuttings here. Across the harbour, Mounts Herbert and Bradley are white and majestic. If I had a digital camera there'd be a picture right here.
